The Cetacean Institute is dedicated to supporting science that far too often goes unfunded or under funded because it can't be monetized. Over the past few decades, such "impractical' research has taken a backseat to the applied sciences.
The Cetacean Institute is here to fix that. We strive to foster pure research, not only because it is extremely interesting to us, but also because basic research is where the most important discoveries often occur. Please help us to help the innovative scientists.

Our approach
Our Mission
The Cetacean Institute fosters and funds novel, speculative research on cetaceans in their natural habitats.
We provide research grants and other funds to individuals who don’t have other forms of stable institutional funding.
Our Vision
We encourage multidisciplinary collaboration among people working in diverse fields.
These include, but are not limited to, marine mammal science, bioacoustics, astrobiology, the arts, and philosophy.
